BOURNEMOUTH COLLEGE

A TAILORED RESTORATION PROCESS

Bournemouth College’s south elevation had suffered extensive decay to the surrounding Bath stonework, particularly around the windows. Hoare Banks Stonemasons were tasked with investigating the damage, identifying the affected areas, and developing a comprehensive restoration plan to preserve the structure’s integrity and appearance.

Following a thorough inspection, sections of stonework identified for replacement were carefully templated to replicate the original design. These templates were then taken to our workshop, where our skilled stonemasons manufactured the new pieces. Once completed, the deteriorated stonework was removed, and the replacements were fixed into position on-site. For minor imperfections that did not require full replacement, a lime-based restoration mortar was applied to seamlessly repair and reinforce the existing stonework. This careful restoration brought the south elevation of Bournemouth College back to its former glory, ensuring its historic charm and strength are preserved for years to come.
