BOURNEMOUTH CENOTAPH

PRESERVING A HISTORIC WAR MEMORIAL

This Grade II listed war memorial, created by our family member and third-generation craftsman, W. A. Hoare, was erected in 1922. Standing proudly opposite Bournemouth Town Hall, it remains a lasting tribute to those it commemorates. We are honoured to continue preserving and maintaining this cherished landmark for future generations.

Cleaning & Restoration

Material

Portland Stone

Hoare Banks Stonemasons have carried out many jobs on this memorial over the years, but this project showcases our focus on the cleaning aspect. This cleaning project was completed using our ThemaTech Steam Cleaner. This innovative system delivers a liquid spray at temperatures of up to 150°C, effectively removing stains without the need for harsh chemicals, ensuring exceptional results. Stubborn stonework staining can often be challenging to address, but as evident here, the transformation achieved is truly remarkable. In addition to the cleaning, we have also carried out extensive repairs on the balustrades, the stone treads and risers and pebble flooring, all to ensure both safety and aesthetic appeal.
